73 million to support mental wellness during COVID-19 pandemic

More than 180 mental health workers will be deployed across the state as part of a $73 million package to boost mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Mental Health Bronnie Taylor today announced the NSW Government funding boost, which will help support the mental health and wellbeing of people across the state. The Hon Richard Colbeck, Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians has announced that Primary Health Networks (PHN) have been contacting all residential aged care facilities within their regions to undertake a needs assessment to identify facilities requiring assistance to access to flu vaccine supply or vaccine administrators. National Heart Foundation Blueprint for an Active Australia – third edition.

The National Heart Foundation of Australia presents the third edition of the Blueprint for an Active Australia, outlining the case for change for a more physically active Australia. The evidence and interventions presented in the second edition have been expanded and updated across thirteen action areas. In Action Area 10 – older people the paper argues that as the numbers of older people in the population will increase at an unprecedented rate over the next 20 years, innovative population efforts to promote greater levels of physical activity in this group will be required, both for older adults’ individual health and quality of life, and as a strategy to reduce the rising costs of health, disability and aged care services.
