The Indigenous Apprenticeships Program (IAP) plays a pivotal role in increasing Indigenous employment opportunities across the APS.
Since 2015, the IAP has given over 1,200 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people opportunities to join the APS. These are people with diverse backgrounds, including people leaving school, finishing study or looking for a new career.
The 12-month program offers:
· A permanent, full-time, entry-level job
· on-the-job training
· a competitive salary and great benefits
· a nationally recognised certificate or diploma qualification.
It also offers a range of roles across a number of departments and agencies. You could work in:
· policy and program development
· service delivery
· human resources
· information technology.
Check which agencies and departments are participating in the program this year.

· answer a question about why you want to join the program
· confirm your eligibility
· upload your resume.
There’s no written selection criteria and no need to study. Once you complete your application, you’ll move to stage 2.
