I would like to let you know how I admire how you are all soldiering on in this crisis. I also appreciate you cannot stretch yourselves in fifty different directions at once. Having someone outside to deliver a social call may be a helpful option for you and your clients.
· People of aged pension age, can either self-refer of be referred directly to Red Cross to receive daily or weekly social contact by phone. We will commence the service then refer the person back to My Aged Care to ensure all of their other needs are being met. If you have any clients you know would benefit from a chat a couple times a week please let me know. We would need their full name, date of birth and best contact. Call 0424 350 981 (Marilee) to organise.
· Anyone needing assistance due to self-isolation or high vulnerability, is recommended to register with Service NSW who will triage their needs and refer as required. Call Service NSW to register: 13 77 88 (socially isolated individuals can receive regular contact from Red Cross through this process).
· We are continuing to accept new clients in the CVS (Community Visitor Scheme) program, as social isolation in aged care facilities will only intensify during this crisis. Contact is currently delivered by phone or online, but will resume with face-to-face contact when it is safe to do so. Contact Carrie Brandon to register: 0417 817 680
We are all doing what we can to alleviate the loneliness for our community.
