Forgotten Australians/Care Leavers face unique barriers to entering aged care as a result of previous trauma, meaning many never access essential services required for their care.

To address this, Flinders University in South Australia recently conducted a research project called ‘Inclusive Care for Older Trauma Survivors’. From this, the report ‘Safe and inclusive care for Forgotten Australians’ was produced, which outlines several recommendations for aged care providers to ensure they’re providing safe and inclusive care for Forgotten Australians/Care Leavers.
