After an incredible opening box office weekend in February, as well as some incredible wins in 2019 with Dujuan’s UN speech, awards, Parliamentary screenings and sold out festival screenings worldwide – we’re super excited to be bringing this film to your living room.
What better way to socially distance than watching a beautiful film with other people across the country and support First Nations communities?
30% of ticket profit will go towards immediate crisis response work of our partner organisations Children’s Ground and Akeyulerre Healing Centre in Alice Springs to support communities to prepare for and prevent terrible health impacts of coronavirus. 20% will go directly towards supporting those in the film who live in the Northern Territory to stay safe during this uncertain time.
Ten-year-old Dujuan is a child-healer, a good hunter and speaks three languages. As he shares his wisdom of history and the complex world around him we see his spark and intelligence. Yet Dujuan is ‘failing’ in school and facing increasing scrutiny from welfare and the police.
As he travels perilously close to incarceration, his family fight to give him a strong Arrernte education alongside his western education lest he becomes another statistic. We walk with him as he grapples with these pressures, shares his truths and somewhere in-between finds space to dream, imagine and hope for his future self.
Time to pop that popcorn in the microwave!
NOTE: this is available exclusively for those accessing the film from Australia. Geoblocking will prevent access from other territories.
