National Families Week is a celebration of the vital role that families play in Australian society. The theme Stronger Families, Stronger Communities highlights the important role families play as ‘the central building block of our communities and delivers the message that community wellbeing is enhanced by family wellbeing’.

National Families Week is a time to celebrate the meaning of family and to make the most of family life, reflecting on the critical role that families play in teaching, supporting and nurturing children, especially as they grow.

As we navigate the current pandemic, for many of us there has been an increase in how much time our families are spending together. The social isolation, economic burdens faced by many and pressure to play additional roles in our children’s lives all make this is a challenging experience for many of us. But it can also be a positive experience if you can:

  • make the most of family time;
  • use routines to support family health and wellbeing;
  • stay connected with others in creative ways; and
  • manage family conflict in positive ways.

At CASPA we know that family is the single most important influence in a child’s life and by working with and supporting families we are able to strengthen families and in turn, strengthen our community. Our Family Supports team use a strength based, person-centered approach to support parents and families which provides them with the practical tools to strengthen relationships, increase connectedness and build resilience.

If you or your family would like some free support, CASPA Family Supports Casino’s Maureen Gill wants you to know, “receiving support and care from others has a powerful effect on helping us cope with challenges.
