Solid Mob provides education and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on the health impacts of smoking and second hand smoke.
We have recently delivered a project to make homes ‘Smoke Free Zones”!
This project is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people households within the Solid Mob TIS region.
In Australia (2014/15) 60% of young Aboriginal people lived in a household with at least one daily smoker. 19% of adults and 13% of children lived inside a house with someone who smoked.
The project will aim to:
- Increase awareness of the effects of smoking tobacco and exposure to second/third hand smoke, especially within the home
- Promote benefits of Smoke Free living
