The National Ageing Research Institute is conducting research to understand key issues for older adults to maintain mental health and support those living with mental illness. The institute is seeking older adults from the general community, carers of older people who use mental health services, and providers to share their insights
They are recruiting participants for focus groups. The participants will only take part in one group meeting that will run from 1 to 1.5 hours.
The institute is seeking:
- persons from the general community aged 65 or over, or 50 years+ if from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background,
- persons living with HIV or have an experience of chronic homelessness.
- family carers of older people living with mental illness
- providers who support older people living with mental health problems.
A focus group for the carers of older people is also planned for December 3.
The institute is also recruiting older persons living with mental illness for individual interviews. Older persons must have used mental health services in the past 12 months.
