RiverTracks is looking for a youth worker to join our small team.

The  Youth Worker will be based in Murwillumbah, Tweed Valley.

More about the role:

  • Award & Classification: SCSES NSW [MA000100] between Level 2.1 to 3.2
  • Employment Status: Part-time casual – between 15-20 hours per week
  • Reporting to: Operations Manager
  • Key focus area: Facilitation of youth program
  • Hourly rate: Between $38.08-$43.78 per hour, depending on experience
  • Employment conditions: Due to the nature of the work we do with at-risk youth, flexibility with work hours will be required.


Rivertracks offer a lifeline to disengaged young people by helping them to build skills that will lead them toward employment and achieving their life goals. The program is free for participants and runs on Monday and Tuesday with occasional extra days for volunteer work and training opportunities. The program focuses on developing work skills, building relationships with and engaging at-risk young people thirteen and above.

Rivertracks work flexibly with young people to explore their interests and create pathways for them to develop life skills and practical capabilities in their interest areas. By working with local charities, landholders and businesses to create mutually beneficial exchanges, working therapeutically with dogs, running weekend activities and hosting guest activities Rivertracks co-create a safe, supportive and inclusive community-based support program for vulnerable young people that ensures they feel they belong to and are valued by our community.

BackTrack is a centre of excellence for working with disengaged young people to enable them to achieve full potential in their lives and have a positive impact in the communities they live in.


RiverTracks has been operating for over 9 months and has engaged a small group of young people who participate in our program two days a week. Many of the participants were affected by the recent flood events and have suffered ongoing disruptions to their education journey.

RiverTracks are looking for an experienced youth worker with group facilitation skills to help support a healthy and respectful culture within the group and to work with our other youth workers and operations manager to develop and lead youth work with our participants.

RiverTracks have a strong resource base, wonderful community support, and an engaged and talented board to support this role.

The position will report directly, and have line responsibility, to the Operations Manager.
