This presentation is based on a Discussion Paper written for the Lowitja Institute which explores the impact of climate change on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and highlights community-led mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are on the front line of climate change impact compounding historical injustices and disrupting close connections to Country.

In this presentation we will describe the formidable barriers communities continue to face in looking after Country and the present opportunity to learn from their leadership in climate change advocacy and action planning based on their intimate knowledge of Country that will ultimately benefit everyone.
