International Youth Day is Monday, 12 August. This year’s theme is ‘Transforming Education’ which highlights efforts to make education relevant, equitable and inclusive for all young people.
All around the world, there will be seminars and programs held to empower the youth to celebrate their contributions and to put a spotlight on the issues that they face.
Young people are our future and International Youth Day is an ongoing effort to ensure they will have the recognition, skills and abilities to lead the way.
IYD was first celebrated by United Nations in 2000. The aim is to promote full access to education, adequate healthcare, employment opportunities and other issues necessary for the youth of the world to thrive.
The UN provides communities and organisations all over the globe with promotional resources, ideas for events and training material through its website and agencies.
