Stepping On Facilitator Training

Date: Monday 28th June, 2021 – Ballina Surf Club, East Ballina NSW 2478

Time: 8am to 5pm 

Cost: $400 (GST Exempt). Includes Stepping On Manual

 The course equips participants to facilitate community based Stepping On programs for older people. 

The workshop will be facilitated by Megan Swann, the co-author of the Stepping On program. Megan has been facilitating Stepping On programs and training facilitators to embed the program in their work practice for over 10 years.

Workshop Outcomes

•          Planning and implementing Stepping On programs

•          Using the Stepping On manual as a resource for the program

•          Key evidence-based prevention strategies to enable older people to reduce their risk if falling

•          How to resource and up-skill experts and incorporate other community resources

•          Understand the importance of building trust and cohesiveness amongst group participants and using the group as a learning environment.

•          Understand how to set homework in ways that participants will practice and implement targeted behaviours in everyday lives.

A certificate of course completion will be provided for accrual of continued professional development points.

Stepping On is an evidence-based falls prevention program designed to help adults, age 65 and over, reduce their risk of falling and maximise their independence and ability to do everyday activities. It aims to build older adults self-confidence and support behaviour change.

 Who Should Attend?

Anyone interested in facilitating a Stepping On program and learning about evidence based falls prevention, such as allied health, nursing and community health workers. It is important that participants have an understanding of aged care.
