The Art on Bundjalung Market is coming to Kyogle on Saturday October 22, 9am to 3pm in Stratheden St, Kyogle
Join us in Kyogle as the Art on Bundjalung Market takes over Stratheden St to celebrate the creative cultural heritage of the Bundjalung region.
This year’s impressive line-up of creative stalls includes homewares and ceramics from celebrated artists Jugan Dandii – Tania Marlowe, Kylie Caldwell, Nan and Nay – Vickki King & Shanaya Turner-King, Noelle King and Jenny Sheward-Spence. The market welcomes original paintings and prints from Jai Walker, Sarah Jane Art, Magpie, Val Smith, Tracey Paints – Tracey Piccoli, Bungaree – Mark Cora, Dreaming of Country – Tim & Jasmin Stanford and William Walker.
On offer there will be a variety of handmade crafts from Arminel Nagas, Rosie Vesper and Thomas Vesper, Choo-Choo Designs – Kira Turner and Our Happy Women. A collection of beautiful Indigenous designed jewellery and clothing will be available from designers Jill Rokovada, Jeticaco Creations – Jen Smith and Tracey Estreich.
Yarning Tea Tribe, Bakarindi Bushfoods and Panangka for the Plants – Jenny Fraser will present a collection of traditional native bush teas, preserves and bush tucker plus Wollumbin Dreaming and Mark Trewhella will offer a range of Aboriginal artefacts. Casino Wake Up Time group, renowned for driving cultural renewal of Bundjalung weaving practices, will host a weaving workshop as well as holding a stall selling a collection of garments, jewellery, bags, wall hangings and more.
The event also features a full cultural program including a Welcome to Country, live music from Black Boi, Shelley Nagas, and Lennox Monaghan, dance performances from Nini Nahri Gali and Junbung Dancers, spoken word performances by Mitch King, Michael Weir and Dakota Feirer, and a fashion parade by First Nations fashion and textile designers. There will also be delicious food stalls including Space Bar Gelato plus face painting and kids activities.
