The Regional Outreach Officer for The Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON), are offering advice and providing assistance in NSW who are experiencing difficulties with their electricity, gas and some water providers.
To raise awareness about our services, we run and participate in events with other organisations across New South Wales face-to-face and online.
With Murwillumbah Community Centre and Lismore & District Financial Counselling we have upcoming Bring Your Bills and Community Assistance Days for all residents in
• Tweed Heads on 2 June
• Murwillumbah 3 Jun,
• Casino 4 June
• all starting at 10am – 2:30pm
The days are targeted to the more vulnerable people in these communities, and their carer’s and having such organisations such as Industry Ombudsman, Government Departments, Community Agencies and Energy Providers in one room can provide valuable assistance to these people.
For example, at previous Community Assistance Days, we have seen people obtain such assistance as; ensuring rebates are applied to energy accounts, help with Legal issues, sorting out fines, assistance with applying for their Seniors Travel Card. They can meet with Centrelink staff and also find out how to apply for flood and bushfire support.
We have a COVID-19 safe travel and event plan in place and expect other organisations to have the same.
