The Older Women’s Network is pleased to present this report jointly with Health Consumers NSW. Although small in scale, this investigation into ageism in Health Care touches on an important aspect of how older people view their interactions with the medical world. The Royal Commission into Aged Care has highlighted that ageism is alive and well in Australia and that older people are not accorded the respect they deserve. This investigation reveals how ageism in health care is experienced by older people. It is hoped this report will prompt all medical professionals to question how deeply ingrained the unconscious bias against people influence their interactions with older people.
